Your cell phone is your best friend

So, I was laying in bed.   It was 10 am.    I got up for a bit, and decided to go back to bed.

I had gotten home at 3 am from another shoot.

Just before I was about to drift off and fall back asleep, I thought hmmm, maybe I should get my phone and have it next to my bed.

I got up and retrieved my phone from the charger.

There was a missed call.   From 10 minutes earlier.   and a voicemail.

310 area code.

WORK.

I listened to the voicemail.   It was the Production Manager from a job that I was going to start the next day.

They were wondering if I could come in right away.

This rarely happens.    And I'm so glad I decided to get my phone, because I make around $2000 day.

I called her back.

"How fast can you get here?"

"45 minutes."  I said.   She said, "OK, come on in."

So, off I went.   We rolled for about an hour and then it was lunch for 1 hour.

ahh, love this life.

Anyways, this just highlights the lesson for today.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR PHONE ON YOU.   YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN WORK WILL COME IN.   EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!

It happens.   Now, I'm actually on a night shoot right now as I type this.

Quite a few late nights, quite a few early mornings and they can be all in the same week!

You can get home at 3 am… start a new job at 5 am.     But this doesn't happen all the time.
Just remember to keep your phone next to you, fully charged… and someday you'll thank me for it!
