When I started this program about 6 months ago, I was unsure exactly where I was supposed to go with my career. I had been doing stand-up comedy in NYC for 5 years, felt confident in my abilities, but had no clue how to break my most recent plateau. I felt like I was struggling to climb a mountain I wasn’t sure I’d be able to climb. Now, I feel like I’m running down the mountain and enjoying every single second of it.
When I started the program, I had just stopped producing a weekly show at the New York Comedy Club and I had no idea what my next step was. Since taking Janet’s program (6 months ago), I booked my own headlining tour and just sold out a 300 person theater in Nashville. I’m gonna be headlining at Second City in Chicago in November. So excited!
By booking my own tour, not only have I honed my 45 minute set to a point where it is now a sellable product, but I also just started working with a manager who has changed my life!
This program has helped me think and act like a professional. You don’t realize the world that’s around you until you see it first hand, so stop sitting around, get out there and don’t be afraid to fail. The more you fail, the closer you get to your dreams. I think the most important lesson Janet has taught me, is that while this business is tough, it’s also supposed to be fun! Isn’t that why we all want to get into entertainment? Even if you have to just stand-up and dance out your frustrations for a few minutes, get yourself into a positive mental state, and the rest will fall into place. At the end of the day, there’s nothing to be afraid of (except letting your life pass you by).
Now I am all confidence and no fear. I am tackling obstacles and meeting amazing people every single day that are helping me get even closer to my dreams. And most importantly, I’m finally turning my dream/hobby into a business! Woohoo! money!
